Mermaid Hannah Pearl

I’m Hannah Fairhall. I write the Ruby Rockpool children’s books and perform as Mermaid Hannah Pearl. I live in the South West and work across Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Somerset. My work sits between storytelling, ocean education and family entertainment.

I hold the title Mrs Ocean World UK 2026. I use this platform to help families understand how everyday actions affect the sea. Children respond well to clear stories. Parents respond well to simple information. My role is to connect both.

I write books, deliver story times, visit schools and run mermaid parties. Every event focuses on curiosity, learning and care for the ocean.

Why I Perform as Mermaid Hannah Pearl

I created Mermaid Hannah Pearl to help children engage with ocean topics through imagination. Children learn best through play. The mermaid persona lets me introduce real issues in a gentle way. Plastic pollution, lost nets and damaged habitats become something a child can grasp and talk about.

The character is a teaching tool. I use it to guide children toward understanding and to support parents who want practical language for environmental conversations.

My Books

I have written two books in the Ruby Rockpool series.

Ruby Rockpool and the Garbage Patch King
This story explains how waste moves from land to sea. The book shows how small actions add up and how children play a part.

Ruby Rockpool and the Tangled Whale
This story focuses on entanglement and lost fishing gear. It introduces empathy for marine animals and encourages responsible behaviour.

Parents tell me their children link the stories to real beach visits and start asking thoughtful questions. That is the goal.

My Background in Ocean Advocacy

I’m an AIDA 3 freediver and an advanced open water PADI diver. My underwater experience shapes everything I create. I have seen bleaching, damage and waste during dives in the UK and abroad. I talk about these things without fear or blame. Families need honesty and practical steps.

I raise funds for a range of marine charities through community events and public appearances. I focus on participation and awareness.

Mermaid Parties with Purpose

I deliver mermaid parties across Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Somerset. These parties mix storytelling, guided play and light environmental messages. They suit birthdays and family events and adapt to different ages.

Children enjoy the fantasy. Parents value the learning. Many families come back for story times or school visits after a party.

Work with Schools, Libraries and Festivals

I run sessions for early years, primary classes and mixed-age groups. These include story readings, ocean workshops, assemblies and creative sessions. I tailor content to the group and setting. Libraries, theatres and community venues use my events to support literacy and environmental learning.

Media Work

I appeared in the ITVX Fresh Cuts series Alter Egos in 2024. The programme showed how I use the mermaid persona to support education and advocacy. The feature helped families and educators across the UK learn about my work.

What Parents Value

Parents often want to explain environmental topics in a way that feels safe. My stories and events offer simple language, strong characters and clear messages. The learning is gentle. The engagement lasts.

Where I Work

I regularly work in:
• Bristol
• Bath
• Gloucestershire
• Somerset

Local places shape my storytelling and help children link ideas to their own environment.

My Approach

Children care when they understand.
Understanding grows through story and play.
Change starts close to home.

This belief guides everything I do.
